Surface Quality
Although structural glulam beams can be manufactured in various kinds of surface qualities, there is no mandatory norm as a directive in this regard. In order to facilitate the classification of surface qualities, the Studiengemeinschaft Holzleimbau e.V. has published a Timber Bulletin with a set of definitions with regard to surface qualities.
In order to make sure that the customer receives the requested surface quality, it is advisable to stipulate the requested surface quality in the contract. In general, industrial appearance, natural appearance and architectural appearance are available.
