As the stress can be transferred efficiently and the outline of the beam matches well with the outline of the roof pitch, pitched cambered beams are a very effective solution. In general, pitched cambered beams are used for industrial halls, sports halls and recreational buildings. The bearing of the construction can be put either on timber-, concrete- or steel columns.
Pitched cambered beams with a curved bottom flange
Pitched cambered beams with a curved bottom flange have the same advantages as pitched cambered beams with a straight bottom flange. An additional advantage is that pitched cambered beams with a curved bottom flange can also be used for roof pitches up to 20°. Thus, roof tiles with a larger slope for a better conduction of rain water can be used as a roof covering.
It should be kept in mind for the planning process, however, that for the transportation of pitched cambered beams a transport width of 3,50 m is required.
