W. u. J. Derix production plants are authorised to use the CE mark

Resulting from the close cooperation with the Department for Structural Timber Engineering at the Experimental Institute for Steel, Timber and Brick of the University of Karsruhe in Germany the Niederkrüchten production plant of W. u. J. Derix GmbH & Co. has been authorised in September 2007 to use the CE mark. With immediate effect, the Derix group is allowed to apply the CE mark on all the structural members that have been manufactured in their premises. From now on, their customers will receive high-class material labelled not only with the already well-established Ü-mark, but also with the CE mark.

CE-Certificate guarantees higher quality standard:

The CE mark and the CE certification process are based on the European Directive for building materials. The implementation of the CE mark serves a variety of purposes: An important goal has been to facilitate trading procedures within the single European market, and the standardisation of technical norms and regulations within the single European market has also been an important objective.

In order to achieve this goal, a transition period has been granted to the manufacturers of laminated timber since April 2006. Since then, European manufacturers of laminated timber are requested to label their glulam products with the CE mark as a confirmation that their glulam products adhere to the respective European norms and regulations.

It goes without saying that the European manufacturers, who are authorised to label their products with the CE mark, have to demonstrate that their manufacturing procedures strictly adhere to the harmonised decisive norm DIN EN 14080. In order to demonstrate the CE-conformity of the material, a comprehensive documentation has to be submitted as well.

Resulting from the close cooperation with the Department for Structural Timber Engineering at the Experimental Institute for Steel, Timber and Brick of the University of Karsruhe in Germany (Versuchsanstalt für Stahl, Holz und Steine, Abteilung Ingenieurholzbau der Universität Karlsruhe), the Niederkrüchten production plant of W. u. In order to optimise our quality management, we have already established very comprehensive internal quality control procedures. Further to that we would like to point out that in the future there will be unannounced controls by an independent institute at our production plants twice a year, so that we can prove that our manufacturing procedures strictly adhere to the norms and regulations of DIN EN 14080. We are proud to emphasise that we have further enhanced the product safety for our customers and that our customers benefit from the fact that they will only receive high-quality products that adhere to well-established European norms and regulations.
