Building Material Laminated Timber
Wooden structural members of the EXPO-roof-system in Hanover
Structural Engineering
Laminated Timber is manufactured by using modern technology. However, before assembling the building material in a construction, it is necessary to determine the respective adhesives and fastenings. As a means of increasing the structural rigidity, adhesives and fastenings play an important role in wood construction.
The material properties of Laminated Timber are excellent. Compared to "normal" solid timber, the load-bearing capacity of Laminated Timber has been increased by 80%, because the timber is machine-graded.
With regard to the application areas of Laminated Timber it is interesting to note that no further chemical wood preservation is required. And due to the significant attributes of Laminated Timber, the fire resistance of the load-bearing structure is excellent without further flame-retardant treatment.
