Painting

It is very important that the paint work is brought into line with the end use and to the risk grade of the material. As far as the risk grades 1 - 3 are concerned, it is possible to use colourless paint and pigmented paint.

Scumble:
The scumble is applied as a protection against staining of the structural members. In general, a very thin coating is applied as a ground coat. Scumbles on the basis of water are environmentally sound and they can permeate deeply into the timber structure. As to structural members that are exposed to weather conditions (e.g. exterior walls), it is advisable to apply at least a priming- and an intermediate coat as well as a finishing coat.
