Architectural Appearance

The necessary finishing depends on the appearance requirements of the beam, and with regard to the classification of the finishing we differentiate between industrial appearance and architectural appearance. Whereas industrial appearance is suitable when appearance is not a primary concern, architectural appearance is used for applications where appearance is an important requirement.

Surfaces have been planed to smooth out irregularities

  • Knots larger than 20 mm in diameter are replaced
  • Branches which are firmly grown together are permitted
  • Colour differences (if they are caused by blueness) of less than 10% are acceptable

In Germany, architectural appearance complies with the requirements of VOB ATV DIN 18334.

In general, the customer receives material in industrial appearance quality. But if it is agreed upon, architectural appearance will be supplied.
