Arch Beam
The untapped potential of Laminated Timber as a building material has increased interest in using this building material for various types of structure. As especially arch beams come along well with modern static requirements, they are widely used in filigree- and light-frame applications. Arch beams can be supplied in a wide variety of shapes and sizes - even if the girders are of minimum height only. Furthermore, halls with open span lengths of 150 m have been constructed. And theoretically it is even possible to supply arch beams with a width between supports of 200 m, however, this of span length has not been realized yet.
Arch beams are often used where the structure of a building is exposed as an architectural feature. And also with regard to cost-effectiveness, other structural components just can't compete with arch beams.
